The Iraqi Student Project

About The Program

Since 2003, violence in many ways has disrupted the safety, quality, and accessibility of education in Iraq. Many qualified students have been forced to end their studies short in response to safety realities. The Iraqi Student Project (ISP) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping Iraqi refugee undergraduate students, mostly living in Jordan or Syria, complete their undergraduate degrees at American universities.

Operating between Syria and the U.S., ISP works to prepare students for an education abroad. After meeting the admission requirements for their respective school, students are enrolled in American universities which offer tuition waivers and/or full-scholarships to obtain a baccalaureate education, and are connected with professionals who provide various support services. Primarily, these include processes of building community support groups for the Iraqi students. ISP hopes to help these young people acquire the educations they need to return home and help in the process of rebuilding Iraq.

Intersections is proud to work with ISP to promote partnerships among institutions of higher education as well as expand continued education opportunity to as many Iraqi students possible.
