Throughout the next few months, Intersections will host a series of events as part of the Veteran-Civilian Dialogue project. The Veteran - Civilian Dialogue is a comprehensive and replicable program that works to empower veterans to fully re-integrate into civilian society and educate civilians to the unique needs and strengths of returning military personnel. These conversations explore the ways that war impacts us all, veterans and civilians alike. Please join us at some upcoming dialogues, conversations and events.
March 7, 2011 (3PM EST): Intersections Veteran-Civilian Dialogue project staff will participate in a live interview on March 7 on the Metanomics show. Metanomics explores the serious uses of virtual worlds and the evolving use of virtual world technologies. They will discuss how Intersections has used the 3D virtual world “Second Life” to host the Veteran-Civilian Dialogue project. Join the conversation live on March 7 online at 3pm EST!
March 18, 2011 (1PM EST): The Virtual Worlds Best Practice in Education (VWBPE) is an online community-based conference that provides opportunities for participants using virtual world technologies to share current teaching, learning, and research practices in 3D virtual environments. Intersections’ Scott Thompson, Director of Social Dialogue and Training Initiatives, will keynote the Second Life Educators Conference on Friday, March 18 and talk about the Veteran-Civilian Dialogues use of the Second Life platform. March 25, 2011 (2PM EST): The Progressive Radio Network—a listener supported internet radio station focused on important topics such as health, news, politics, art, culture and issues that directly impact our everyday lives—will discuss Intersections’ Veteran-Civilian Dialogue project at 2PM on March, 25. Join us live for the online conversation, and interviews with the Veteran-Civilian Dialogue project team.
April 1, 2011 (6-9PM EST): Intersections will host the next Veteran-Civilian Dialogue, Friday, April 1. The conversation places equal numbers of veterans and civilians in a facilitated dialogue to discuss the shared impacts of war. Because of the nature of the dialogues, an RSVP is mandatory. Please email rsvp@intersectionsinternational.org if you would like to attend.
April 20 and 21, 2011 (TBA): The Veteran-Civilian Dialogue will participate at the launch of New York University’s Aquila Theater and the Ancient Stories, Modern Lives. Intersection’s has brought the Veteran-Civilian Dialogue to Purdue and Rutgers Universities as well as several colleges in New York. We appreciate your support and if you know of veterans and civilians, who might be interested in attending, please forward this announcement to them.
