Rabbi Alan Lurie received the "International Faith & Spirit at Work Individual Leadership Award"

Monday, November 14, 2011

On Nov. 7th, Sam Simon, a Senior Fellow at Intersections International, presented the first International Faith and Spirit at Work Individual Leadership Award to Rabbi Alan Lurie. The Award is given jointly by Intersections and the Tyson Center on Faith and Spirituality in the Workplace. It recognizes individuals whose personal leadership or actions inspire and promote the ideal of work with purpose and meaning.  The award ceremony kicked off the first Faith and Spirit at Work Conference hosted at the Tyson Center, a project of University Of Arkansas Walton College of Business.

Alan Lurie, recipient of the award, serves on Intersection’s Values and Leadership Roundtable.  He has worked since 2007 as a Managing Director for Project Management at Grubb and Ellis.  Alan Lurie is also an ordained Rabbi. He was asked to begin a ritual of Monday morning inspirational talks, which were published in his book, “Five Minutes on Mondays: Finding Unexpected Purpose, Peace and Fulfillment at Work.”

At the ceremony, Simon said:

“There are many facets to leadership.  One of the most important faces is serving as a model to others.  A leader will almost always bring light to new paths for people to consider and ultimately follow.  Alan Lurie is just such a leader.  He has become an evangelist for bringing meaning to work and has coined the term “work as a spiritual gymnasium.” Through his own personal practice and his public workshops, writing and inspirational advocacy for faith and spirit at work, he has shined a light on a path so that others may follow.”
