In September 2007, the Rev. Robert Chase was called to be the Founding Director of Intersections International, a new global initiative of the Collegiate Churches of New York, the oldest corporation in North America, dating back to 1628. Intersections is dedicated to building respectful relationships across lines of difference. In an effort to build innovative solutions to some of the world’s most intractable problems, Intersections creates safe space and brings diverse (and sometimes unexpected) voices around a common table for the sharing of stories and the exchange of ideas and perspectives.
Prior to Intersections, Chase has served as Director of Communication for the one million member United Church of Christ, and was founder and President of Creative Connections in Media, a full-service communications company based in Rhinebeck, NY. He is an author and an award-winning video producer/director with more than 100 productions to his credit.
Throughout his career, Chase has worked globally, documenting stories of those who make a difference — from sustainability concerns on the north slope of Alaska, to racially-charged communities in South Africa; from intense poverty in the favelas of Brazil, to rapid development in rural China. Since coming to Intersections, the focus of Chase’s domestic work has been on building bridges of mutual respect and understanding between the Muslim and non-Muslim worlds — especially in the Middle East and Central Asia — with particular emphasis on the nations of Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
Rev. Chase is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. He earned a Master of Divinity Magna cum Laude from New Brunswick (N.J.) Theological Seminary, and a B.A. with honors in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
